The 360° publication »مَلِكوت Queendom מַלְכּוּת« is part of the Israeli pavilion’s contribution to the Venice Biennale. It reflects the conceptual approach of the artist Ilit Azoulay. There is neither a definite beginning nor an end and also no cover. The contemporary slab font for the English text reminds of archive labels. The Hebrew font shows similar details like orthogonal strokes and constructed curves. And the Arabic font also shows a certain rigor with systematic repetitions. The publication’s flexibility reminds of a workbook. Like a precious heritage, it is protected by a slipcase made of stable cardboard. The hot foil embossing reflects the light in all its facets – an effect that the artist also uses in her work. The play of light continues in the spiral binding made of transparent plastic.
