»Color Archaeology« is the first comprehensive artist monograph of Beatriz Morales. Layers play an important role in both, her biography and her work. Morales was born in Mexico, her ancestors come from Lebanon and currently she is living in Germany. The book design reveals this aspect: the edge of the book shows different layers inviting to go on a journey of discovery. The color pages present different authors. Sequences of images showing the artist’s work process, studio context or inspiration function like a bridge between her work and the texts and back. The open thread binding refers to the handicraft and the textiles in Morales’ art. The structured cover material reminds of latex or human skin. Published by Kerber.
